The tool makes outlines from the edges it can detect; it does not invent missing details. A sharp, well-lit photo with a clear subject and visible contrast usually produces easier-to-read lines. Edges between neighboring objects are easier to follow when their colors or brightness differ. Low-contrast, overlapping, or blurry source details may remain faint or disappear.
How to turn a photo into line art
- Choose one photo. Upload a JPG, JPEG, PNG, or WEBP image. The photo is processed in this browser and is not uploaded.
- Set line detail. Compare the preview at Simple, Balanced, or Detailed. Simple keeps fewer detected edges; Detailed shows more, including texture that can make a page look busy. The tool also has Very simple and Very detailed positions.
- Choose a print layout. Select A4 or US Letter. Portrait and landscape layouts are available; the complete photo is fitted inside the page.
- Preview and download. Check that the main subject and important boundaries are visible, then save a PNG or PDF prepared at 300 DPI.
