Shapes Coloring Pages
These four printable shape activities help young learners name, find, color, and arrange basic shapes. Choose a sheet below and print it on US Letter paper; use “Fit to page” if your printer asks.
The collection moves from naming circles and triangles to spotting shapes in a familiar scene, following a color clue, and extending a repeating pattern. The black-and-white pages leave the coloring choices to the child.
1. Meet the Shapes
Say each shape name, trace the outline with a finger, and color the large open spaces.
2. A House Made of Shapes
Find the triangle roof, square windows, rectangle door, and circle sun. Point to each one, then color the scene.
3. Color by Shape
Use the printed key: circles yellow, triangles blue, squares red, and rectangles green. Name each shape before coloring it.
4. Finish the Shape Patterns
Look at what repeats in each row. Draw the next shape in the empty box, then color the whole pattern.
Shape words to practice
Start with circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, diamond, star, and crescent. Ask a child to describe a shape using simple clues: “Does it have corners?”, “Are its sides straight or curved?”, or “Can you find another one in the room?”
For an extra challenge, compare flat 2D shapes with solid 3D objects: a circle with a sphere, a square with a cube, and a rectangle with a rectangular prism. The worksheets on this page focus on flat shapes; the solid objects are a conversation prompt, not pictures included in the printables.
